OUT OF NOWHERE.Part2
Acrylic, gold leaf on premium gallery-wrapped canvas.
Dimensions of canvas: 30” x 40” x 1 13/16’’ deep.
On the morning of February 24, 2022, we woke up to the streets we grew up on being bombed. Out of nowhere, millions of lives changed forever. Five years later, the war is still going on, and my family is still living through it every single day. Watching it all unfold from thousands of miles away has been one of the most helpless feelings of my life.
Somewhere in the middle of that heaviness, I found myself painting bright, joyful protea flowers. Most people see a beautiful flower on this canvas. But when I look at it, I see hope — hope that one day life will be ordinary again.
No friends and colleagues fighting on the frontlines.
No destroyed homes of people we love.
No funerals filling the news feed.
No images of bodies and souls forever injured.
Just life… the way it used to be.
Flowers have always symbolized resilience to me — the quiet strength to bloom even in difficult conditions. Painting them became my way of holding on to beauty when the world felt unbearably heavy.
Until that day comes, creating beauty remains my quiet act of resilience. And maybe this painting can live in a home as a reminder that even in the hardest times, hope still finds a way to bloom.
I called this diptych “Out Of Nowhere”.
