When I arrived in Texas for the first time in 2014, cacti seemed absolutely "out of this world" plants to me. And the purple prickly pear or Santa Rita cactus was the most mesmerizing. Since then, I've been chasing them with my camera, and Santa Rita often makes an appearance on my canvases.
Prickly Y'all 2 is a painting from the Cacti series, inspired by the beauty of the Texas Hill Country. Like the rolling hills and wildflowers, my cacti thrive gracefully amidst challenging natural conditions.
