Named after the most iconic street in Texas, Congress Bright is a focused study of a single prickly pear blossom. While the plant stays grounded, this bloom reaches for the city lights. I wanted to capture that specific, high-voltage glow you feel when you’re standing in the heart of downtown at dusk.
I’ve used heavy-body acrylics to give these petals a structural, almost sculptural presence. This isn’t a flat painting—it’s a living piece of the Austin horizon that refuses to stay small.
Congress Bright stands bold on its own, but it was designed to be Barton Gold’s counterpart — like night and day, distinct yet inseparable. Displayed together, they become the ultimate tribute to our city.
